The Grace of Giving

May 13, 2018 Speaker: Jay Knott Series: Disciple: What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus?

Topic: Giving Passage: 2 Corinthians 8:1–8:10

[We ran into some technical difficulties posting this week's sermon. Sorry for the delay!]

The context for this passage is the poverty of The Macedonian churches. These included the churches at Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, and Corinth. The church at Corinth was geographically in about the same area as the others, however, they were much more affluent. All of these churches were of greater wealth than the church in Jerusalem. The church or “saints” of Jerusalem were barely surviving. They were being persecuted by the Romans as well as the established Jewish Synagogue.

What we are going to preach on today is the “The Grace of Giving”. Now I know you would rather me preach on grace and just forget about the
giving, but I can’t do that. It would be robbing you of a blessing. So we are going to talk about how you get grace from giving.
